Sounds of the Andes
Spectacle Collective presents an evening of musical fusion featuring the Alturas Duo and Gonzalo Cortés, on Saturday, June 1st, 2024, at 7:30 pm in Watertown, MA.
Alturas Duo consists of Carlos Boltes, viola and charango, Scott Hill, guitar, and voice, and will be joined by Gonzalo Cortés, Andean woodwinds, and western flute. They specialize in seamlessly blending Western classical music with South American folk music, inviting audiences to reimagine familiar classics while also presenting them with a whole new world of sound. The trio will take time to introduce the audience to the variety of Andean and classical instruments that they perform on, as well as share insight from their vast experience of the Andean folkloric oral tradition.

This concert is a precursor in support of our upcoming main-stage production Luz & Leyendas at the Boston Center for the Arts, October 18th-20th, 2024. This whimsical show will feature the Latin American folk music inspired compositions of Gabriela Lena Frank and Javier Farías, performed by the Spectacle Collective string quartet and Alturas Duo, alongside live shadow puppet artistry that will draw you into a magical, dream-like atmosphere.
